Rockford Fosgate P310D4 Punch Stage 3 10" subwoofer with dual 4-ohm voice coils Review

Rockford Fosgate P310D4 Punch Stage 3 10' subwoofer with dual 4-ohm voice coilsI have two of these subs in a sealed type 1 box, powered by a Rockford Fosgate Power T10001bd (1000 watt RMS mono amp, killer amp), the subs are 400RMS each, wired to 1 ohm impendence, so they are fully powered. Man. They hit HARD. I actually had to turn the bass EQ down to -6, yes, negative six, because they are so powerful that they drown out the other speakers when I turn it up. My other speakers are nice too, I have a pair of T1693's (110w RMS) in the back, T152's (60w RMS) in the doors, and a pair of T1T's (100w RMS tweeters) by the side mirrors, all fully powered, and the bass can drown them out easily. Absolutely crazy. I listen primarially to rock, screamo, and metal and these subs are PERFECT for drowning out the crap- erm, rap, coming from the car next to me. I can't even keep a ligher lit in my car, the bass waves are too strong.

If you aren't looking for something super hard, I'd recommend one of these subs, its what I started out with, and one is very, VERY nice. Fully powered I easily beat several systems with two 12" subs in the back. The looks of shock were amazing when I showed people what I had in the back after turning it up. They'd all go "THATS ALL THAT'S BACK THERE?!". Put two back there and fully power them, man, its incredible. I'm definitely a fan of Power Rockford Fosgate products, but the Punch 3 is more than I could ever ask for. At about $100 per sub, its a spectacular steal as well. Also, if you plan on fully powering one of these guys, a cap is a must. I'm cranking out about 2,500 watts RMS and I have a 2 farad cap that works just fine for both my sub amp, and my speaker amp.

Rockford Fosgate Omnifi DMP1 20GB Jukebox Car Digital Media Player Kit Review

Rockford Fosgate Omnifi DMP1 20GB Jukebox Car Digital Media Player KitBefore going into my review. I must say that my rating for this product is a 5 only because of the open source software (openfi) that is available to replace the stock software.

[...]As far as I know, there's no other device in this price range that has the capabilities or user-based support that the DMP1 does.

The Stock Software
The DMP1 comes with some pretty poorly written software. It gets the job done. I can easily say it lacks something to be desired.
It also requires proprietary synching software (called simple center) to be installed on a PC. There are modified versions of the software which will run on Macs and user-developed software for Linux. As far as I know omnifi has no official support for any platform other than Windows. Music can be added to the drive either by connecting it to your computer through the provided USB cable, or through an optional wifi (802.11b) adapter.
Simple Center converts your mp3s and wmas into a proprietary format, and then puts these new files onto the hard disk. If that werent enough it also has trouble keeping track of duplicate files and deleting files from the HDD if you've removed them from your computer. If you modify your ID3 tags after synching... the software leave the old song on the hdd and copies over the new song with the modified ID3 tags.
Managing your music through SimpleCenter is rough to say the least.

The Alternative!
Up until recently this was the only option for owners of the device. There were efforts to make simple center a bit more robust and less buggy (by users, no the makers of the software), but it was still SimpleCenter :-/
Then the magical day of freedom came. An alternative software which didn't require reflashing the firmware (or anything damaging) was released.

openfi has become a great replacement to the stock software. It is more stable and even has features that the stock software doesn't (like ff and rw).

It doesn't modify the stock software either, so it's risk-free to try it out. It is compatible with SimpleCenter synced files, but it will also play mp3 files that are loaded directly onto the HDD (so you can copy your music collection directly to the DMP1's HDD from any OS without any extra software).

The best part about it all is that openfi is constantly being developed and new features are always being added. Openfi has only been around for a month or two and it has already surpassed what the stock software can do.

Conclusion
If you're looking to buy an media player/hdd for your car the DMP1 is a great choice when openfi is coupled with it.

Rockford Fosgate POWER Speakers T142C - Car speaker - 40 Watt - 2-way - coaxial - 4" Review

Rockford Fosgate POWER Speakers T142C - Car speaker - 40 Watt - 2-way - coaxial - 4'I've tried other front speakers and nothing seems to keep up with my rear 6x9's. When I installed these I could immediately hear the difference in quality, loud and not much distortion. I would recommend these to anyone but if you can fit them I would go with the 5.5 inch version. Either way you will not be disappointed

Rockford Fosgate P210D2 Punch Stage 2 10" subwoofer with dual 2-ohm voice coils Review

Rockford Fosgate P210D2 Punch Stage 2 10' subwoofer with dual 2-ohm voice coilsI bought this sub to compliment a pair of Polk Audio DB 6500 component speakers, which were installed in the doors of my Mr2 turbo. Now, the last set of speakers I owned were Pioneers, along with a Stage I Rockford Fosgate sub. These were in my previous car - an Acura Integra. The sub was placed in the trunk and I remember that sometimes it seemed like the "punches" lagged behind the actual beat of the song. I'm not sure if this was due to the distance and material between the sub and myself, the sub's amplifier, or what. But it could be annoying at times.

Now I have the MR2 and I had the option of placing the sub in the trunk as before, only this time it would have to push the sound through the entire engine bay before reaching me. This didn't seem like a wise move, so I opted to have the sub placed in the small area of space right behind the driver seat. It is fed by a little black 700watt mono amplifier (Alpine I think), mounted to the rear wall behind the passenger seat, across from it.

I don't know if it's that it is a stage II sub, that it only has to go through a seat to reach me, or that the amplifier powering it is better than the old 250watt RF amp I had before. Maybe it's everything. Either way, this sub can really kick and I haven't noticed any lag. Since it is on the driver's side, the sub is perceived differently for the driver and the passenger. Being directly behind me, this thing is felt as well as heard, which is why I don't turn it up too high that often. If you ever go to a live concert where you feel the pounding of the sound waves... it is that type of feeling, just more controllable and felt mainly in the lower back. It's pretty nice to actually feel the beat hit you. The passenger doesn't get quite that visceral experience - the sub's sound has expanded by the time it reaches the passenger side and it is a more rich and enveloping sensation. I like both, but I prefer to feel it.

Now here is something interesting... on certain songs, I've noticed certain subsonic vibes that, with a normal or perhaps lesser sub, cannot be heard. Actually, I tried to hear them on my Klipsch 5.1 system by cranking the sub level up and I ended up ruining the sub - it just couldn't handle what it was being told to produce. With this (or eve a stage I) RF sub, I can get powerful low frequency vibes that I would otherwise have never heard or thought existed.

I listen to all kinds of music, from Techno to Metal, Rock, Pop, 80's, etc., and it has yet to disappoint me (hence the 5 stars). This is a great and affordable sub that is clean and precise, and if my car is ever stolen I would definitely buy it again.
